Expression of Interest 2019 Schools' Festivals

The 2019 National Schools' Festival for Grade 12's will take place in Grahamstown from 26 to 30 June 2019, with arrival and registration on Tuesday 25 June. The Schools' Festival team will select productions, workshop facilitators and lecturers from the local and international artists and industry professionals who will be in Grahamstown for the National Arts Festival. Learners will be exposed to the new festival of digital technology, a plethora of art exhibitions and installations, the vast craft market, and workshops ranging from virtual reality to puppetry, writing, performing, singing, busking, and playing an instrument. Learners will be accommodated and have meals in a Rhodes University Hall that will be exclusively used by Schools' Festival participants over the period.

The Schools' Festival team intends, funding permitting, to take the Schools' Festival On The Road to provincial centres across South Africa in 2019/20. These smaller festivals, taking place over two days, will be geared toward Grade 11 learners and will include performances, workshops and lectures.
